Ab Nyko Frys Oy was founded in 1965 and is among the oldest fur-feed manufacturing companies  in Finland.  The company is primarily owned by local fur-breeding farmers providing a solid base for continuous operation.

In the late 1980’s and early 1990’s all of the fur-breeding industry suffered severely under the influence of recession resulting in major re-structuring of the industry. Nyko overcame the recession  strengthened and gained numbers of new clients as a result.

During the 1990’s and 2000’s Nyko has continuously invested considerably in state-of-the-art technology in all sectors of operations not only to achieve the best possible efficiency but to meet all regulations stipulated by environmental authorities.

In 2011 Nyko strengthened its position as the leading fur-feed manufacturer in Finland due to the merger of Korsnäs Frys to Nyko in the fall of 2011. As a result of the merger Nyko customers are found in an area stretching from Närpes in the south of Ostrobothina to Kalajoki Valley in the north.

The Nyko Group

Ab Nyko has three subsidiary companies, all involved in producing goods and services for the fur-breeding industry.

Ab Ostrocenter

is a  retailing company in general hardware-, construction- and leisure time products as well as agricultural products including specialities such as equipment used in fur-breeding.

Ab Granlunds Farmtillbehör

operates a manufacturing plant producing cages and other equipment for the fur-breeding industry nationwide. A portion of the production is also shipped abroad mainly to European countries.

Ab Feora

is a destruction plant co-operated with other fur-feed manufacturing facilities in the region. As of 2010 Feora has, through extensive research and the use of  new technology, begun a large-scale-production of an environment-friendly eco-fuel based on animal fat.  The fuel is suitable for heating buildings as well as all kinds of machinery and vehicles powered by diesel-engines such as trucks and tractors.
